 A US Marines F-35 jet pilot called emergency services from a South Carolina home where his parachute landed. The pilot was unsure of the location of his $100m plane. A local resident calmly informed the dispatcher that the pilot had landed in his backyard. Debris from the jet was found a day after it went missing. In a four-minute call to 911, the resident requested an ambulance for the pilot. The 47-year-old pilot, who remains unnamed, reported feeling okay with only back pain. He requested an ambulance and explained that he had parachuted to the ground.  The Marine Corps stated that the pilot ejected due to a malfunction and landed in a residential area near Charleston's airport.
